Karolina Sobel was born in Poland in 1987. Educated as an urbanist, studying at the Technical University of Darmstadt and EHESS in Paris, she finally dedicated herself to Media Art at University of Art and Design in Karlsruhe. Having background in photography and social sciences, Karolina is dealing with social topics ( such as identity, migration, social groups, social exclusion) developing different strategies in her practice to think far beyond the print matter. Karolina experiments with different mediums, among those with video and intervention in public space, setting her playground on urbanscape.
She is a part of research group Lampedusa supported by Kultur Stiftung des Bundes, an curator by the first Transmission Festival and regular contributor to Postcard Collective. She lives and works in Karlsruhe.
